What is Entrepreneurs of Erath?
Entrepreneurs of Erath (EoErath) is a program designed to help entrepreneurs in launching or expanding businesses in Erath County. EoErath will award cash prizes and in-kind professional services prizes to local entrepreneurs who write the best business plans. The prizes are intended as a catalyst to help a new business or to assist the development of an existing business. This business plan competition will foster entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation among the greater Erath County area. The competition is made possible by a collaboration of Stephenville Development Authority, Stephenville Economic Development Corporation (STEDCO), Dublin Economic Development Corporation, the City of Stephenville, Tarleton State University, Stephenville Chamber of Commerce and America's SBDC at Tarleton.
There are three rounds for the competition. In the first round the team submits an Executive Summary of their business plan. The Executive Summary is a brief snapshot of the business, where the most important facts and concepts from the full business plan are highlighted. Entrants intending to compete must pay a $25 fee to be eligible. Up to twenty five entrants will be selected for the second round of competition, and the formal business plan is required at this stage. That business plan should detail the company overview; management/owner; any products and/or services; target market; strategy and implementation; and, financials. Finalists will then be selected, and the finalists will make a short 15 minute oral presentation to a panel of distinguished judges. The top finalist companies in the competition will receive cash prizes. In addition, in-kind prizes comprised of professional services will be awarded to the top three participants in the areas of marketing, accounting, web design, legal, human resource, engineering, and a Stephenville Chamber of Commerce membership.
